My vision for the Weerona Chardonnay was to create a Chardonnay with elegance, finesse, richness and great length. The Hunter Valley is the birth place of Australian Chardonnay and produces styles that show more depth and flavour profiles. This Chardonnay is all about the pristine fruit that the 2019 vintage provided for us. The oak is the supporting role, balancing the wine and giving multiple layers to an already complex wine. We are very excited about our first release Chardonnay and believe that this wine made itself and is a pure expression of the Hunter Valley.
Pale white gold in colour with vibrant lime green fluorescent hues.
Lifted aromas of stewed white peach and nectarine with supporting honeysuckle. There are also aromas of freshly baked brioche and vanilla bean. Wafts of crushed cashew nut and fresh thyme are also evident.
The palate is full bodied, ripe, complex, soft, generous and dry. It displays upfront fruit flavours of ripe fig, green melon and freshly cut pineapple. The mid palate is layered with vanilla and custard apple flavours with hints of cinnamon and clove. The back palate is long, lingering, soft and dry.
